Daytime post, Yay!

Kagemonster is finally down for a nap...he's really not the best napper. Usually during the day he'll sleep for about 20-30 minutes then be wide awake. He's in his swing right now, the only place he will nap. Every once in a while his little head flops forward and I feel like I have to dive to save him. I feel so bad seeing his little head flop up and down...it's funny, but I still feel bad.

Soooooo...I am watching the best episode of any show EVER!

Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Season 6, Episode 7..."ONCE MORE, WITH FEELING"! Musical Buffy, there is nothing better on TV.

When Daddy and I lived in Austin, TX and I worked at The Movie Store, I would hold weekly viewings of this episode...same day, same time, every week. People would come in just to see it. Of course I would sing a long. A couple other people would too, I would have loved it if more people would have come in for it.

Anyway, now Kagemonster is awake. Which is just shocking...

Too many updates

Well me, Daddy and the Little Kagemonster moved so I haven't had too much time to update. So here goes.

The biggest thing that's happened is Kagemonster smiles...A LOT. Everytime I come up to him and smile his whole little face just lights up, it is so adorable. And Kagemonster is such a mama's boy. He doesn't like it when Daddy feeds him. It has to be Mommy or he is pissed. Though even when I feed him he's such a little wiggle worm. He loves to "help" by trying to hold his bottle himself...which typically involves him hitting the bottle out of his mouth repeatedly while getting mad that the bottle isn't in his mouth. Which makes perfect sense to an adult.

I've been putting him in the cutest little outfits lately. He can fit into his little baby jeans and shoes, so I need to take lots of pictures. Just really haven't had time. Our house is rather high maintenence because it's old. I'll update more later when I can remember all the cute little things he's done in the last few weeks.

Oh! He can already scoot if you put him on his tummy, and roll over. :)

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnd He's OUT!

Today has pretty much been a disaster, I mean, it could be worse, but it could have been a WHOLE lot better. Daddy and I didn't end up falling asleep until around 4:30am or so. No real reason for it, just couldn't sleep at all. Kagemonster wakes up at 6:15am, I was so hoping he would sleep until around 8:00am...or at least 7:30. But nope, he's bright eyed and bushy tailed. So Daddy and I get up and hang out with our little man, which is always fun. We both really enjoy playing with him, but we were also both hoping we could get in some sort of a nap. No such luck.

Kagemonster refused to take a nap until 12:30pm. Now really that's not too bad, but Daddy had a dentist appointment at 2:30. I decided that I was going to lay down right when Kage fell asleep, and everything would have been fine if not for the stupid phone!!! Some days I hate that thing...I got at least 3 phone calls and almost 20 texts, in less than an hour.

NOw whn I want people to text me, nobody is around, I can't find a soul. But the second I try to sleep...BOOM texts are flying at me from all angles...it's so lame.

SO today I got some laundry done, took Daddy to the dentist (where he had 3 teeth pulled, all at the same time, which was totally unexpected), and now I have to sweep, mop vaccuum, steam clean, do dishes and do a billion other things before my grandmother comes tomorrow morning. So speaking of all the chores I have to do, I best sign off before it gets any later.

Invasion of the FLIES

Flies are driving me insane. Everyone where we live has dogs, hell, even we have dogs. But because of the dogs, there are flies EVERYWHERE. Daddy and I are both smokers (yes, I know, it's horrible, we've tried to quit and it's just not pretty, especially because of our everyday stress...you wouldn't want to be me a lot of the time), so when we smoke, we go out front, but leave the door open so we can see the Kagemonster and he can see us. If he can't see us, he screams blood murder. There's no way we will smoke in the house (of course), so we are stuck outside...letting all these bloody flies in.

Now if it was just one or two, or even five, it wouldn't be a big deal. No no, it's like 50...and everytime we open the door, it's more. When I'm feeding the Kagemonster they fly around and land on his little head and on my hands and once a day or so I go nuts and kill about 20 of them, the rest hiding from me...evil little bastards.

So nothing too remarkable from Kage for the last couple of days. It seems like he's worked out his "normal" sleeping schedule, which is nice, but it's certainly not ideal for me. It goes a little something like this: Wake up between 6:00am and 8:30am, NO NAP ALL DAY, just screaming and eating, then to bet between 6:30 and 8:00pm.

The Sweetness

Kage is the sweetest little thing...when he's asleep, falling asleep or just woke up. I love feeding him at night, he is the snuggliest little boy ever. During the day I swear sometimes I can hear little children singing creepily "DOMINOS! OMINE!" Now I love him more than anything, but every once in a while he seems very much like a demon child. Screaming for hours and HOURS AND HOURS.

His thrush is clearing up, it's almost totally gone. His gas is even getting better since Gram bought his new bed. It is an amazing bed! It's pretty much a hammock on a spring. Little Kagemonster loves his bed. He gets all snuggly in it and it makes him sleep so much better. At night he usually sleeps 4 hours at a time. I can't even begin to explain how wonderful that is. Especially considering he doesn't sleep during the day. Normally he us up from about 6am to around 8pm. Typically without a nap too. The last couple of days it's been better, with him taking at lease one or two, two hour naps.

Today he did take a couple of short little naps...but only for about 20 minutes at a time. It was not pleasant for Mommy.

That's really all that's happened in the last few days. I never thought I would enjoy getting up in the middle of the night, but I really do. I get to spend quiet time with my sweet little man. I don't know what happens to the sweet little guy during the day...but I'm hoping I can find him someday.

Pure Exhaustion

Now I've been a night person ever since I was about 13. I'm one of those people that likes to go to bed around 3 or 4 am, sometimes later. I never realized how bad that would screw me after I had a baby. Especially the Kagemonster. He's already learned the difference between night and day, which would be amazing for most parents, but not so much for me. So Kage was up ALL DAY yesterday, from 6am to around 8pm.

To be continued...I've gotta eat.

Okay, back. Of course it's a day or so later, but ya know. Anyway, so I've been a night person forever and Kage already knows the difference between night and day so I'm straight screwed. He has been sleeping so good at night, which is wonderful, but I have the hardest time going to bed at a decent hour, so it really kills me. He usually falls asleep as the sun is going down, around 7:30-8:30pm. He will then wake up between 11:30 and 12:30, this first stretch is really long. The next time he will get up anywhere from 2:30 to 4:30, and the last time he wakes up between 5am and 6am. Now I ALWAYS hope he wakes up at 5am. Because if he does, I can feed, burp and change him as the sun is coming up and get him back down before he realizes it's light outside. If not, I am in Hell. If he realizes the sun is up, his eyes will pop open and he will lay there screaming until it goes down. If he doesn't, I'll usually get until 8:00am to 8:30am to sleep. And let me tell you, that two hours is a lifesaver, especially if I didn't get to sleep until 4am.

So until today, Kagemonster REALLY lived up to his nickname. Though according to Daddy, his "real" nickname is Commander Kagemonkey. For here though, he is Kagemonster. Anyway, yesterday was Hell. His gas was so bad he couldn't sleep...he just screamed ALL DAY. Daddy and I were so frustrated, we couldn't make him feel better.

He woke up at 6am, and didn't go back to sleep until about 8:30pm. He was so tired he slept for a full 4 hours. We had switched Kagemonster to soy formula, it now seems that the soy was causing more problems than it was helping. Instead of healthy poop, it looks like he is passing bunny turds. They are not soft bunny turds either.

On top of all that, he somehow got Thrush, a yeast infection of the mouth. From everything I have read it just goes away on its own, but I will be making a doctor's appointment on Monday. I have to call them to get his circumcision appointment set up anyway.

Today he was a perfect angel. He had a little trouble falling asleep last night because of gas...if I can't get ALL of the gas out of his little tummy he just cries. I would lay him down and 5 minutes later he would scream. I'd pick him up, burp him again, rock him until he fell asleep, lay him back down, repeat. It literally took me 10 times of doing this before all the gas was out and he could sleep. This happened twice throughout the night, so not too bad, but I just feel so bad when he cries...it breaks my heart. When you adore something or someone as much as your own child, the last thing you can stand is seeing them in pain and knowing there is so little you can do. Even the gas drops don't work usually.

Today though, after last night, was wonderful. He is such a happy baby when he doesn't hurt. Everytime he'd get up to eat, he would chow down like a hippo, burp like a champ, snuggle for a little bit, and go back to sleep. Today was one of the best days we've had. Before we would have snuggle time he would just smile at me and Daddy and he was just so content, you could see it in his beautiful eyes. He was even happy for his bath, which he usually hates. He's not a fan of getting cold, so he usually screams at baths, but today he was such a trooper, loving the warm water. I covered him with a towel before I washed his back and hair that way he wouldn't get too cold, then when we were done, took off the towel, wrapped him in another towel with a blanket on top of that and snuggled until he was warm. He LOVES that. Naked snuggling seems to be a new favorite, much like peeing on his Pooh Jammies. This also seems to be something he enjoys.

I put him in the cutest Winnie the Pooh jammies, he wore them for about 3 hours...just between feedings and while I was changing him, I was stupid and didn't cover his peepee, and he peed ALL OVER his Pooh Jammies...this is the second or third time he's done this...everytime I put any of his Pooh Jammies on him. It never fails.

So right now he is sleeping like a little spikey haired angel. I'm still waiting on my digital camera, but I will upload pictures after we receive it.
